If you're interested in advertising on PeoplesMD, please contact us at advertise@peoplesmd.com. Before emailing us, please be so kind as to review our Advertising & Sponsor Policy. Effective Date: This policy was last revised on July 1, 2007. PeoplesMD is dedicated to providing our members, and website visitors, with an informative and engaging online experience that allows you to share your opinions, ask questions, and lend support to other people just like you. In order to keep PeoplesMD as a free service for our members and visitors, we may display advertisements and accept sponsorships from select advertisers. Our goal is to include only those promotions that are relevant to PeoplesMD members, and that coexist with PeoplesMD content in a way that doesn't detract from your positive experience on our website. This policy outlines the rules and regulations that govern PeoplesMD's acceptance and delivery of advertising, sponsorships and other promotions. - Does PeoplesMD restrict advertising in any way or can advertisers promote whatever they want on the PeoplesMD website? back to top
- PeoplesMD restricts advertising on our website in a variety of ways. Advertisers on PeoplesMD are:
- Not allowed to make false, inaccurate, illegal or deceptive claims (about health or any other subject), or to advertise and distribute products or services that are illegal, or that promote political outlooks, political candidates or religious points-of-view.
- Not allowed to attack, insult or ridicule people on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality, country of origin, language, sexual orientation, or physical or mental disability.
- Not allowed to promote the sale of tobacco, alcohol, pornography, gambling, firearms, ammunition, weapons, fireworks, or the simulation of news or emergencies. However, PeoplesMD may, at its sole discretion, accept advertising or Public Service Announcements (PSAs) from companies or organizations intent on educating the public about the health risks of smoking, alcohol consumption, and/or the use of illegal substances, or about cessation programs targeting smoking, or targeting the use of alcohol and/or illegal substances.
- Not allowed to defame or injure the reputation or good name of PeoplesMD.
Advertisers bear responsibility for ensuring that their ads or promotions comply with all applicable laws, regulations and provisions of regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, those of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). While PeoplesMD does not supervise advertisers' compliance with all applicable laws, regulations or provisions of regulatory agencies, PeoplesMD retains the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, remove, or reject advertisements or promotions of any kind, and for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to, legal non - compliance. In addition, PeoplesMD retains sole discretion over the types of advertising, and promotions, accepted by and displayed on PeoplesMD.
-
- Does PeoplesMD endorse the ads and advertisers that appear on the PeoplesMD website? back to top No. Although PeoplesMD restricts the types of ads and advertisers that appear on the PeoplesMD website, and retains sole discretion over the display of those ads, PeoplesMD does not endorse any of the advertisers (including distributors and manufacturers), advertisements, sponsorships, products or services that appear on the PeoplesMD website. In addition, while advertisements and other promotional content that appear on PeoplesMD are subject to the PeoplesMD Advertising and Sponsor Policy, that content is neither endorsed by nor subject to editorial review by PeoplesMD.
- Is it easy to distinguish advertisements and promotions on PeoplesMD from user - generated content or other types of content, or do ads resemble other forms of content on PeoplesMD? back to top
- Yes. All advertising or sponsored content on PeoplesMD will be clearly identified as such through the following means:
- Placement of the word 'Advertisement' on or near an ad or similar promotion (such as, but not limited to, advertisements that appear in leader boards near the top or bottom of Web Pages).
- Placement of the phrase 'Sponsored by [name of advertiser]' on or near content or information for which an advertiser has paid a fee to be associated, but over which the advertiser exercises no editorial influence or control.
- Placement of the phrase 'Supplied by [name of advertiser]' on or near content that is advertorial or informational in nature, but has been written and/or provided by an advertiser, either as a means of promoting a product or service, or for the educational benefit of PeoplesMD users.
Please note that most, if not all, advertisements and promotions on PeoplesMD will, if clicked on by users, take you off the PeoplesMD website and redirect you to advertisers', sponsors', or other Third Parties' websites. In those instances, the PeoplesMD Advertising & Sponsor Policy, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and other PeoplesMD policies will no longer be in effect. It is important, then, that you familiarize yourself with the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and other policies and guidelines of those Third Party websites, as theirs may differ from PeoplesMD's Terms of Use and policies in important ways.
- Does advertising influence the types, and sequence, of search results on PeoplesMD? back to top
- No. When you type search queries or keywords in search boxes on PeoplesMD, the search results displayed are algorithmically or editorially determined by PeoplesMD and/or by our search vendors. PeoplesMD's search results are not determined or ordered by monetary or other incentives provided by advertisers. The only time search results may be influenced by advertisers is when ad listings are posted next to, or near, PeoplesMD search results. In such instances, those ad listings will be clearly labeled as such.
- Are all ads that appear on PeoplesMD paid for by advertisers? back to top
- Most advertisements on the PeoplesMD website are paid for by advertisers. However, some ads or promotions on PeoplesMD form part of a strategic business partnership, in which, for example, ads or sponsorships are displayed in exchange for specific services provided by a PeoplesMD business partner. You may also see ads or promotions on PeoplesMD, or integrated into PeoplesMD communications, such as newsletters, that are part of our partnerships with non - profit organizations, especially those that assist people who have, or care for those with, medical conditions, or those organizations that advocate for or underwrite research to find cures for, or effectively treat, various medical conditions. In some cases, this type of advertising is provided free-of-charge to, at a reduced cost to, or in exchange for other services provided by non-profit partners to PeoplesMD.
- Do I have to see all the ads displayed on PeoplesMD? back to top
- Yes and no. While there's no way for you to opt-out of seeing all advertisements when you visit PeoplesMD, you may be able to limit the personalization of some of those ads. In an effort to provide you with promotions tailored to your interests or activities on PeoplesMD, or to ensure you see a variety of ads (and not the same ones over and over again), some of our advertising or marketing partners may apply Ad Network Cookies to your Web Browser. A number of Ad Servers allow you to opt-out of their Ad Networks, which means you can prevent these companies from collecting information about you through Cookies. Please note that not all Ad Servers provide this service. To opt-out of those Ad Servers that do allow you to opt-out - which means you would still see ads, but not ads personalized for you - please click on this link http://www.networkadvertising.org/consumer/opt_out.asp.
- Do you share my Personally Identifiable Information (PII) with PeoplesMD advertisers? back to top
- At times, PeoplesMD may share aggregated, anonymous user information - meaning, information that is not traceable to you - with Third parties, such as advertisers. However, unless those Third Parties sign a Confidentiality Agreement, or unless you give us your permission to share your PII - for example, if you participate in a sponsored - survey and you opt-in to providing your email address to the advertiser that sponsored the survey - PeoplesMD will not share your PII with advertisers, sponsors or similar entities. For further information on how PeoplesMD protects your PII, see the PeoplesMD Privacy Policy.
- Will this Advertising & Sponsor Policy be updated or changed? back to top
- It's possible that this Advertising & Sponsor Policy will be updated or revised over time. If that happens, we will post a notice at the top of the Advertising & Sponsor Policy informing visitors and members that updates have been made. You should review the Advertising & Sponsor Policy from time to time, as your continued use after any revisions are posted (as indicated by the date specified) is your acceptance of the revised Advertising & Sponsor Policy.
